Logistics

Logistics is the management of the flow of goods between the point of origin and the point of use in order to meet the requirements of customers or corporations. Logistics involves the integration of information, transportation, inventory, warehouse, material handing and packaging, and often security. Logistics is a channel of the supply chain which adds the value of time and place utility.

From my understanding, logistics is the a very specific profession which helps companies or other organizations to deal with their supplement and distribution problem. The main purpose of logistics is to make sure their client's producing schedule properly developed, and at the same time make their client focus on their own expertise.

  1. Logistics to me is a type of systems thinking, which promotes architects as being able to analyze systems and view design in regards to environmental and social problems. Why do you think architecture is looking at these types of systems? What does this mean for the role of the architect?
